Background:

Glorious Voyage: Splendid Achievements of the People's Republic of China in Its 75 Years Exhibition Series introduces the comprehensive development of contemporary China over the past 75 years through three exhibitions. Among them, the Scientific Breakthroughs and Era of Intelligence exhibitions will be displayed at the Hong Kong Science Museum, showcasing China's remarkable achievements in science and technology. It demonstrates the great journey of the Chinese nation from standing up, becoming prosperous, to becoming strong, in celebration of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

The Scientific Breakthroughs exhibition highlights the achievements of new China in oil exploration and applications, rocket and aerospace technologies, and semiconductor chips development, reflecting the evolvement of China's scientific and technological enterprises and the significant contributions of scientists from different generations.

The Era of Intelligence exhibition introduces the rapidly evolving artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in recent years. It showcases examples of everyday life and various applications of AI, reflecting the integration of AI with Chinese culture and elaborating on the development of local research institutions.

Details:

-         To conduct questionnaires for the exhibitions

-         To briefly introduce the exhibitions to visitors

Date: 1 November 2024 to 5 February 2025 (except Thursdays (except 26 September 2024) and the first two days of the Chinese New Year)

Time:  2:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. (Christmas Eve and Lunar New Year's Eve until 5 p.m.)

Location: 

Scientific Breakthroughs exhibition: 2/F Exhibition Hall, Hong Kong Science Museum

Era of Intelligence exhibition: G/F Special Exhibition Hall, Hong Kong Science Museum

  (2 Science Museum Road, Tsim Sha Tsui East, Kowloon)

No. of volunteers required: 4 persons per session

  *Each volunteer is required to attend at least 2 sessions of service

Requirement: 

-         Fluent in Cantonese and able to communicate in simple Putonghua and English preferred

-         Polite with good interpersonal and communication skills and customer service manner

-         Form 5 or above

-         Priority will be given to those who have qualifications or experience in science or education 

Briefing:

*All successful applicants are required to attend the briefing session to learn more about the service details.

Date:  31 October 2024 (Thursday) (tentative)

Time:   6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. (including briefing and visit)

Location: 2/F Exhibition Hall and G/F Special Exhibition Hall, Hong Kong Science Museum 

Details: An introduction to exhibition background, service content and related techniques. Volunteers can visit the Scientific Breakthroughs and Era of Intelligence exhibitions of the Glorious Voyage ─ Splendid Achievements of the People's Republic of China in Its 75 Years Exhibition Series after the briefing that evening.

*The briefing will be conducted in Cantonese. 

Registration: Please submit the completed online registration form by 23:59 pm on 1 October 2024 (Tuesday).

Notes: If the number of applications received exceeds the quota, the MVS Secretariat will draw lots to select the participants. The successful applicants will be notified of the result by e-mail on or before 21 October 2024 (Monday).  The unsuccessful applicants will also be notified by email separately. Activities are subject to change, please refer to the Secretariat’s announcements as final.
